Real Madrid masters the second halves

With six straight wins Real Madrid seems to have found their pace just when the season is at its most exciting, a moment when all titles are on the line. Moreover, the Whites have scored the majority of their goals in the second half of their most-recent matches, a clear sign of the top competitive form of the players that increases with each passing minute on the pitch. Specifically, nine of the 11 goals scored by Mourinho’s team in the last five clashes have been scored after the restart. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored four of the 11.

“We controlled the match in the second half and had more shots on goal”, said Karanka after Real’s win against Celta. The assistant coach spoke to the press in the Balaidos press room and commented on the squad’s good work and goals in the second periods of recent matches. Cristiano Ronaldo scored in min. 63 and min. 72 in Vigo, giving the Whites the three points with his brace to extend the squad’s scoring streak.

The streak began in Riazor, where Kaka and Higuain put two on the scoreboard in the last 45 minutes of the match. Real then faced the double clash against Barcelona, where the squad managed to shut down the rival’s effectiveness’s in both second halves. Both Cristiano and Varane scored after the half in the Copa, and Ramos sentenced the Liga win in min. 81. The Whites also knew how to bide their time in Old Trafford, where they defeated Manchester United with goals by Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo in the last 25 minutes of the match.
