“Readings in History, Identity and Culture” book discusses originality and importance of Arabic language
The book “Readings in History, Identity and Culture” by Dr. Farouk Aslim shed light on the authenticity of the Arabic language and the history of Arabism, the current challenges and attempts of cultural invasion, and the need to protect belonging and confront everything that threatened our authentic presence.
The book refers to the seriousness of the cultural crisis, considering that the Arab struggle against Zionism is that of existence and identity, so “we must pay attention to our awareness and culture to face challenges”.
The writer noted that the setbacks suffered by the Arab national project in the Arab arena and the problems at the level of Arab countries since the beginning of the American blockade of Iraq and the destruction of its economy, worked to marginalize Arab history and identity, and to undermine patriotism.
In the book, the researcher underlined the importance of popular resistance in confronting normalization with the Zionist project, especially the resistance of Arab writers and intellectuals and vocational unions and their leaderships.
In his book, the researcher drew attention to the seriousness of what the Arab nation is facing while confronting the false Zionist settlement project, in addition to what Palestine is facing due to the replacement and abolition of the Arab identity in favor of the Western Hebrew identity.
Dr. Aslim believed that the fortification of the Arab and national identity is a broad-spectrum work that connects with awareness and response to challenges and the behavior of citizenship. He highlighted the necessity of supporting the intellectuals to preserve their identity and awareness.
