Ranking 3rd, national weightlifting team gains 68 medals in Arab and Afro-Asian Championship

Damascus – The Syrian team for weightlifting ranked third after the teams of Egypt (first) and Algeria (second) within the games of the Arab and Afro-Asian Championship held in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh.

Gaining 68 medals, the national team won six gold, 25 silver and 37 bronze medals in the Championship that included teams from Syria, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Bangladesh and Iraq, SANA reported.

The national team consists of the athletes Mou’ayad al-Najjar, Ali al-Hazza’, Ali Sa’oud, Nagham Rasha, Mohammad Jourish, Mohammad al-Ahmad, Mary Jgaili, Mohssen Jourish, Odai Alyisha and Laith al-Hakim under the supervision of the coach Maher Quorabi.
