NEWYORK ,(ST)_ Syria ‘s Permanent Representative to the UN stressed that raising the issue of chemical weapons in Syria by Western Countries is an integral part of the pressure campaign on the Syrian people , state and government for obtaining concessions.
In an interview with the Lebanese NBN TV yesterday al-Jaafari said that Syria ‘s enemies, since the beginning of the crisis, resorted to different methods to pressure Syria and get important political concessions, including the humanitarian aid ,the displaced and the missions of the Arab and UN observers , Kofi Annan and Lakhdar Brahimi.
Thousands of al-Qaeda and extremist groups are still entering Syria across the Turkish border
In response to what was stated by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on imposing a no-fly Zone or arming the opposition in the event of proven use of chemical weapons in Syria, Al- Jaafari pointed out that the imposition of no-fly zone can be done only through a UN Security Council resolution , which is next to impossible, noting that the threat of arming the opposition, is a smokescreen in the eyes because financial and political support has been given continuously for the terrorist groups .
Al- Jaafari indicated that Turkey has opened all its borders with Syria for training and funding thousands of terrorists coming from all parts of the world , noting what was stated by Brahimi ‘s recent briefing at the Security Council a week ago that there are 40 thousand armed foreign terrorists fighting now in Syria, and the report issued by a research center in London two weeks ago that 805 European terrorists are fighting in Syria in with ” al-Nusra Front”.
He added that Syria formally requested the UN Secretary-General to assist investigations on using chemical weapons in Khan al-Asal town in rural Aleppo and committed this crime and during the special session of the UN Security Council to discuss the matter the ambassadors of France and Britain claimed that chemical weapon was used in Homs, since four months.
Jaafari added that the Russian envoy to the UN Vitaly Churkin criticized the Franco-British move and considered it an attempt to undermine the Syrian official request to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Aleppo.
Jaafari stressed that the goal of the Western powers is to repeat the Iraqi scenario by opening Syria’s doors before the so-called uncontrolled inspection for violating Syria ‘s sovereignty through raising allegations relating to the use of chemical weapons.
Al-Jaafari continued that the UN founded two teams to search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and after 18 years of inspection the two committees concluded that there was no such weapons , but Iraq was occupied and destroyed adding that the most importantly, that when the inspection committee submitted its report to the Security Council in 2008 saying it did not find anything, Western countries rejected to register the phrase “the Commission did not find anything in Iraq” , and the work of the committee was terminated in secret and its documents were kept in UN bullet-proof boxes ,sealed with red wax that to be opened after 60 years .
“The important question is why all this happened in an international organization is supposed to be the incubator of transparency in world diplomacy.” Al-Jaafari said.
Syria’s enemies Use UN Security Council mechanisms to repeat the Iraqi scenario
Jaafari pointed out that Syria’s enemies fabricated many files in order to pressure Syria, but they did not get anything, and therefore they are trying to invest the UN Security Council mechanisms in order to repeat the Iraqi scenario.
Jaafari stressed that the aim of supporting terrorists with money and weapons is to thwart a political solution to the crisis in Syria and that the call made by the Arab League AL Secretary General to arming the opposition foiled Brahimi mission and refuted AL allegations to that it pursues a peaceful settlement.
Al-Jaafari noted that Syria has formally informed the UN Security Council documented messages that there al-Qaeda affiliated al-Nusra Front and other terrorist groups fighting in Syria , adding that Brahimi spoke about this dimension and the risk of its possible expansion at Arab and Western levels.
The so-called Arab League launched the Coup de grace on Brahimi mission
Al-Jaafari indicated that the so-called Arab League launched the coup de grace on Brahimi mission , the same it did for the missions of Gen. al-Dabi , Koffi Annan, Gen. Maude because those who manipulated the AL destiny , especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey do not want a peaceful solution that stops the bloodshed of the Syrian people.
“Lifting Syria’s hand from all Arab national files mean the end of the Palestinian and the end of the possibility of a Palestinian state”, Jaafari said, adding that and Syria is only a station and the next station will be Iran, Iraq again, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Algeria.
“As Syrians, we are all concerned with maintaining Syria as a strong and solid state and want and to rebuild it, being able to do that being at home or abroad.” Al-Jaafari emphasized.
Media war against Syria aimed at poisoning the Arab and world public opinion
Al-Jaafari emphasized that the media war against Syria aimed at poisoning the world and Arab public opinion through the promotion of wrong images on what is happening in Syria because no government kill its people as they alleged , rather Syria is facing armed terrorists , carrying out suicide terrorist bombings in residential areas , killing students in schools and universities and destroying the national economy infrastructure .
Concerning the situation in the UN Security Council on Syria, al-Jaafari added that deliberations are ongoing and there no clear lines about to the final destination of those deliberations, , noting that the Jordanian Foreign Ministry requested a closed session for the UN Security Council on Tuesday to raise the issue of what it calls “Syrian refugees” in Jordan , demanding international assistance.
He continued that when the Syrian people hosted millions of Iraqis who fled the consequences of the U.S and British invasion and also the Lebanese and the Palestinians , the Syrian government did not beg at the doors of the UN Security Council rather carried out its national responsibility towards them with no regret ,t because Syria believes that helping Arab brothers is a legitimate, moral and national duty.
