Raising Awareness As to Protect Religion and Society Underscored

DAMASCUS, (ST)- H.E. President Bashar Al-Assad underscored here Wednesday the role assigned to men of religion in raising awareness as to protect Islamic Religion and society from risks like extremism and over exaggeration.

‘The case of existing variations in Syria is but to be safeguarded by the popular awareness of the society,” said President Assad during his meeting with a delegation of Islamic men of religion on the holy month of fasting.

Next generation should be addressed in a deductive analytic reasoning methodology and not through parroting, President Assad added and pointed out that the coming phase would be more difficult as far as doctrine, culture and society are concerned.  

Member of the delegation, including Minister of Religious Affairs and the Grand Mufti, reiterated their determination to continue work as to purify Islam from misinterpretations and misunderstandings caused by organizations which have nothing to do with Islam.

For this purpose, the members of the delegation asserted continued fight against extremist terrorist thoughts, spreading balance and openness.

The focus of the talks during the meeting centered at the developments of condition in Syria and the role played to this effect by Religious Institution.
