Tehran- Ebrahim Raisi, the current Iranian president, has been re-elected for the 6th term of Assembly of Experts by winning 82.5% of votes in South Khorasan province in east of the country.
Such a percentage of votes is registered as a record, IRNA reported on Saturday.
With 275,464 votes from the total of 333,629, Raisi was re-elected for the Assembly of Experts for the third term.
Elections for the 12th term of the Majlis (the Iranian Parliament) and the 6th term of the Assembly of Experts were held across Iran on March 1.
In a message on Saturday, Raisi appreciated the Iranian people for their massive turnout in the Friday elections to choose members of parliament as well as the Assembly of Experts, saying that the turnout was a blow to opponents of the country.
He praised the Iranian people for their “timely and conscious” presence which he said brought more dignity and honor for the Iran and disappointed the enemies.
Raisi said in his message that the ill-wishers of the country did all they could to discourage people from voting, but the people’s participation filled with faith and hope was a “big no to the inhumane front of arrogance” and foiled their “insincere plan”.
He also said that the turnout was another blow to opponents of Iran following the Iranians’ historical blow to them during the 2022 sedition to instigate riots across the country.
