Raisi: International cooperation needed to thwart US embargo

Tehran, (ST)- Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stressed the need for cooperation in international forums to thwart the unjust US measures and embargo against independent countries and peoples.

IRNA quoted Raisi as saying in a telephone conversation with his Nicaraguan counterpart Daniel Ortega, “The common positions of the peoples of the two countries in the face of the ambitions of the United States are a valuable asset in cooperation and rapprochement at the international level with the aim of defending the national sovereignty of independent countries and peoples,” stressing the need for cooperation between the two countries in international forums with the aim of making the US embargo against Iran and Nicaragua difficult to achieve.

Raisi pointed out that Iran’s foreign policy is based on strengthening relations with Latin American and Caribbean countries, including Nicaragua.

For his part, Ortega affirmed that his country will vigorously continue the approach of consolidating relations with Iran, pointing out that Washington aims to blatantly undermine Latin American countries, as well as Nicaragua’s solidarity with Iran. Therefore, maintaining solidarity and strengthening solidarity between the two peoples is very important.
