Rahimi : Iran Supports the Political Program to Solve the Crisis in Syria

Damascus, (ST) –  First Vice- President Mohammad Reda Rahimi has affirmed his country’s support for the political program to solve the crisis in Syria, seen as a step to bring stability and security in Syria.

In a telephone call last night with Prime Minister,  Dr. Wa’el Al Halaqi, Rahimi said: “Terrorists and foreigners have to know that the Syrian people want peace and reforms and rejects foreign interference in its internal affairs.”

Rahimi also confirmed the necessity to exchange meetings and consultations between officials of the two countries referring to the upcoming visit to Iran by Prime Minister, expressing hope that the visit to further strengthen and consolidate bilateral relations and raise the level of trade and economic cooperation between Tehran and Damascus.

For his part, Dr. Al Halaqi expressed appreciation for Iranian positions in support of the Syrian people saying, “The Syrian people are standing firmly in front of the enemies and we will not allow foreign interference in the affairs of our country.”

Dr. Al Halaqi pointed out that the two countries are following the process of the implementation of bilateral agreements.
