Quneitra firefighters continue to extinguish a fire started by the Israeli occupation forces in the liberated area east of occupied MajdalShams

Firefighters and members of the Forest Department of the Agriculture Directorate in the governorate of Quneitra continue their efforts to extinguish a fire set by the Israeli occupation forces on August 31 in the liberated part near the barbed wire fence at Ain Al-Tina site, east of the occupied town of Majdal Shams.

The Head of the Quneitra Fire Brigade, Colonel Firas Samara, said that the nature of the mountainous region, valleys and rugged lands impede the work of firefighters and contributed to the spread of the fire and the affected areas.

For his part, the Director of the QuneitraAgriculture Directorate , Engineer Hussein Salan, said that the fire caused damage to farmers’ properties, cherry orchards, and large areas of agricultural and pastoral lands.

Media sources said that the Israeli occupation forces set off a fire on the barbed wire east of the Israeli-occupied town of Majdal Shams in the northern Quneitra countryside, which led to the explosion of a landmine.

The sources added that the Quneitra’s firefighters and members of the Forest Department went to the area to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to the lands and surrounding woods in the area.
