Qatari Waves of the Unreasonable

Muhammad Ibn al-Dheeb al-Ajami, was sentenced by the ruling Qatari family to spend  15 years  in jail in Qatar, because he posted a poem online that was deemed to offend the emir and contravene the Gulf state’s penal code which explicitly bans calls for the overthrow of the government.

According to Derrick O’Keefe in an article republished by uruknet on Feb. 26th, that’s apparently the technical basis of the outrageous criminal charge; however many believe the real reason for his imprisonment is his ‘Jasmine Poem,’:

Knowing that those who satisfy themselves and upset their people will tomorrow have someone else sitting in their seat,

For those who think the country is in their names and their children’s names — the country is for the people, and its glories are theirs.

Repeat with one voice, for one faith:

We are all Tunisia in the face of repressive elites.

We are all Tunisia in the face of repressive elites.

The question that frames the thoughts of those who wonder will not find an answer in any official channels.

As long as it imports everything it has from the West, why can’t it import laws and freedoms?

Why can’t it import laws and freedoms?

Qatar, which has been wasting  its gas  wealth to become a major international player, especially in recent years, has been spending the millions of petrodollars on the destruction of Syria and the slaughtering of the Syrians. What does the ruling family want from and for the Syrians? Does it want a Moslem Brotherhood Wahabi government for the Syrians, given the Qatari dirty role in supporting and even imposing such failing governments in other Arab countries; if such a model of governance is acceptable by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani; why doesn’t he implement it in his own state and for his own people!
