Pyongyang: Washington crosses red line in its interference in our relationship with Moscow

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea confirmed that Washington’s attempts to interfere in the friendly relations between Moscow and Pyongyang cross the red line, and demonstrate Washington’s quest for hegemony and its adherence to the Cold War mentality.

“The unjust and outrageous American hostility toward the traditional friendly and cooperative relations between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Russia, and the attempt to interfere in them, has crossed a red line,” Deputy Foreign Minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Im Chun-il said in a statement issued by the Korean Central News Agency.

“Recently, the United States described, without evidence, the development of good-neighborly relations between the two countries as a violation of United Nations resolutions and international law in an attempt to give the global public the false impression that cooperation between the DPRK and Russia constitutes a threat to global peace and security,” he noted, pointing out that the behavior of Washington shows its hegemony-oriented way of thinking built on a Cold War-style logic of confrontation.

The Korean official pointed out that relations between the DPRK and Russia have reached a new stage of development in accordance with the strategic decision taken by the senior leaders of the two countries. He underlined the importance of the strategic relations in maintaining peace, deterring the arbitrary practices, threats and military interventions of the imperialists and improving the strategic security situation in the world.

Im Chun considered the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), as well as the military alliance between the United States, Japan, and South Korea, a “cancer” that threatens the international order based on the purposes and principles of the United Nations and constitutes a serious threat to global peace and security.

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea recently warned of the continuing military provocations carried out by the United States and South Korea through repeated maneuvers on the Korean Peninsula, and that the aggressive military provocations threaten the outbreak of a nuclear war on the Korean Peninsula.
