Putting al-Khafsah drinking water pumping station in service to provide 100 thousand cubic meters of drinking water daily to Aleppo city

The Ministry of Water Resources today put two drinking water pumping stations in al-Khafsah and Maskana in service after fully rehabilitating them from the damage caused by terrorism.

The Minister of Water Resources, Hussein Arnous, underlined the importance of the project in providing 100,000 cubic meters of water per day to the city of Aleppo, noting that the project was set up in Al-Assad Lake on the Euphrates River at a total cost of 4 billion and 100 million Syrian pounds.

The pumps of the project will be capable of providing Aleppo with 325,000 cubic meters of water in the future. 

In turn, Eng. Yousef Kurdieh, Director General of the Drinking Water Establishment in Aleppo, said that al-Khafsah project is an important and strategic project. It consists of four pumps pumping 18000 cubic meters of water per hour to Aleppo city. It contains 3 pumps that pump water to the filter basins and from there to a tank of 1000 cubic meters to be sterilized and then pumped back to homes.

For his part, Eng. Hassan Al-Hajji, Head of the Treatment Plants from al-Khafsah power station, said that the station was supplied with four pumps and three diesel groups, indicating that the pumping station pumps 670 cubic meters of water per hour and provides drinking water for about six million people.
