Putin to Macron: Russia is ready for dialogue with Ukraine in the event of the unconditional implementation of Russian demands
Moscow (ST): During a telephone conversation with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, Russian President Vladimir Putin affirmed his country’s readiness for dialogue with Ukraine in the event of the unconditional implementation of the well-known Russian demands.
A Kremlin statement said today that Putin explained to Macron the truth of what is happening with regard to nuclear power plants on the territory of Ukraine, pointing out that Ukrainian militants, with the participation of a sabotage group, carried out a provocation within the area of the nuclear power plant in Zaporozhye.
The statement indicated that Putin stressed during the call that the attempts to hold the Russian military responsible for this incident are part of the propaganda campaign against his country, and that the Russian forces continue, in cooperation with the Ukrainian guard unit and cadres, to ensure that the station operates in a normal manner.
The statement stated that Putin noted that the Russian armed forces also control the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in order to exclude the possibility of orchestrating provocations fraught with catastrophic consequences by Ukrainian neo-Nazis and terrorists.
According to the statement, Putin welcomed the proposal made by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, regarding holding a tripartite meeting between the International Atomic Energy Agency, Russia and Ukraine in the Chernobyl region to develop a mechanism to ensure the security of nuclear facilities in Ukraine.
