Moscow (ST): Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that there have been some positive shifts in the ongoing talks between Moscow and Kiev with a view to ending hostilities in Ukraine.
During his meeting in the Kremlin today with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, Putin said according to the Russia Today website regarding the progress of talks that are currently taking place on an almost daily basis between Russia and Ukraine: There are some positive shifts, as our negotiators assured me.
Putin stressed that the unprecedented sanctions imposed on Russia against the backdrop of its military operation in Ukraine provide an opportunity to strengthen the country’s economic and technological sovereignty, noting at the same time that the Russian economy, as a result of Western sanctions, is being subjected to an “intense collective blow.”
Putin stressed that the problems caused by these sanctions will be overcome and said: We will acquire more competencies and more opportunities to feel independent and in the end all this will be as beneficial to us as it was in previous years.
