Moscow – (ST) Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed in a statement during the Summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization held in the capital of Tajikistan “the need to coordinate and unify efforts to ensure the security of the organization’s countries, against the background of the new situation in Afghanistan”.
” In the current conditions there is more need than ever for close coordination and solidarity among the member states of the CSTO,” Putin added.
Putin also stressed that the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility is unstable and carries risks for the countries of the region, saying: “As we mentioned earlier, the situation in the CSTO area of responsibility and at the external borders of member states is not only unstable, but also poses new acute challenges,dangers to the security of our countries.
In the meantime, President of Kyrgyzstan Sedar Gabarov stressed that the situation in Afghanistan may negatively affect our countries.
For his part, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko indicated that the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan may be followed by challenges and threats to the countries of the Collective Security Organization.
