Putin: Russian companies are allowed to pay for planes to foreigners in rubles

Moscow (ST): Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree allowing Russian companies to pay for planes to foreign creditors in Russian currency, and this is part of measures taken by Russia to counter Western sanctions.

According to this decree, which was published today in the official Russian legal information portal, Russian companies will be able to pay for aircraft and payments within the framework of financial lease contracts, or what is also known as the lease contract for foreign creditors from unfriendly countries, in the Russian currency in rubles, after transferring them to accounts opened in Russian banks.

After the start of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, Western countries announced new sanctions against Russia, in particular the European Union, the United States and other countries closed their skies to Russian airlines. In response to these hostile measures, the Russian State Duma adopted a law to support the air, sea, river, railway and road transport sector.
