Putin: Russia will achieve the goals of its military operation in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has reaffirmed that his country will achieve the goals of the special military operation in Ukraine.

During a meeting on Friday with the mothers of the Russian servicemen participating in the special military operation in Ukraine, Putin said that the reunification of Russia and Donbass should have happened earlier.

“As far as 2014 is concerned, of course, in hindsight, we know everything now, but we proceeded from the assumption that it might be possible to come to terms, that Lugansk and Donetsk would be able to reunite with Ukraine somehow within the framework of the Minsk agreements. We were sincerely working towards this, but we didn’t fully feel the mood of the people, it was impossible to understand what was happening there,” Putin said, according to Tass News Agency.

“Now, it has become pretty obvious that this reunification should have happened earlier. Maybe there would not have been so many civilian casualties, and there would not have been so many children killed by bombardments,” Putin pointed out.

The president stressed that his country is not fighting the Ukrainians; it is fighting the parties that arm and fund them.

These parties are using the Ukrainians as fuel in the battles and if they refuse to obey the orders, they are killed in front of their fellow service men, Putin added, reiterating that Russia is dealing with a Neo-Nazi movement.
