On December 17, Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated the need to continue combating terrorism in Syria and continue the dialogue to find a political solution to the crisis in it.
This came during Putin’s phone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
“ During the phone call, the two presidents discussed the situation in Syria and the implementation of the Russian-Turkish agreements on northeastern Syria and the Idlib region,” the Kremlin said in a statement which was reported by Russia Today.
During the call, they also exchanged views on the latest developments in Libya and the need to resolve the crisis there through diplomatic and political means.
On December 11, Putin stressed in a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan the need to fully implement the Russian-Turkish understandings on combating terrorism in Idlib and northeastern Syria.
