Putin praises the role of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the fight against terrorism

Moscow, (ST) –  Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the CIS Parliamentary Assembly has proven its effectiveness and made a significant contribution in fighting against terrorism, cross-border crime and other threats and challenges to international security.

RT website quoted Putin as saying in a message to the participants in the jubilee plenary session of the Assembly, which was read by the President of the Assembly and the President of the Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko on Tuesday that “the Assembly occupies an important place in the system of the Association’s bodies. “The Assembly is an effective and very required structure for multilateral cooperation, and the exchange of experiences between Legislators in ASEAN countries help to increase the effectiveness of legal work at the national level and create conditions for enhancing the processes of integration between countries” Putin added.

In his message, Putin explained that in recent years and within the framework of the Assembly, a lot has been done to develop mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic, social and humanitarian fields and to overcome the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

Putin called on the participants to continue to mobilize collective efforts to combat terrorism, drug smuggling, cross-border crime and threats to international security.
