Russian President Vladimir Putin received 87.33 percent of the votes after counting 99.52 percent of the ballot papers for the Russian presidential elections that took place on March 15 – 17.
According to Sputnik, Nikolai Kharitonov (the Russian Communist Party) received 4.30 percent of the votes, Leonid Slutsky (the Liberal Democratic Party) received 3.20 percent of the votes, and Vladislav Davankov, the “New People” Party, received 3.81 percent of the votes.
Yesterday evening, the polling stations for the presidential elections in Russia closed their doors, and members of the Russian Election Commission began counting the votes in all the centers and sending them to the capital, Moscow.
The number of voters exceeded 112 million in Russia and reached about two million abroad, while Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his gratitude to the Russians who went to the polls and voted in the presidential elections.
