Putin: Kiev desire to acquire nuclear weapons was a serious challenge

Moscow, (ST) – Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the Ukrainian authorities’ desire to acquire nuclear weapons was a serious challenge.

“The Nazi regime in Ukraine could have obtained weapons of mass destruction, so we started our own military operation,” President Putin said during a government meeting today on social and economic support measures. He referred to raw materials for biological weapons which were manufactured near Russia’s borders. He said “they are trying to remove all traces of biological programs.”

Putin added that, we “offered Kiev before the operation to withdraw troops from Donbass, but they refused.” He stressed that Russia would never allow Ukraine to be a springboard for threatening its security.

Putin made it clear that the West does not care about the victims who fall in the Donbass, and its goal is to turn Ukraine into a state hostile to Russia, hit its national economy, target the interests of the Russian people, and will respond to its new package of sanctions against it.

The Russian President also stressed during the meeting that the military operation in Ukraine will continue to the end. He pointed out that the military tactics developed by the Russian Ministry of Defense and the General Staff have proven quite effective.

“Russian soldiers and officers show courage and heroism and do everything they can to avoid losses among the civilian population in Ukrainian cities”, Putin added.

President Putin directed the peoples of the West by saying that, “they are trying to convince you that Russia is responsible for the negative impact of the sanctions, but this is all because of the policy of the West,” noting that the sanctions imposed on Russia are a “serious blow to the global economy.”

Putin explained that the West wants to repeat the attempt to pressure Russia to turn it into a weak vassal state and violate its territorial integrity and dismemberment, stressing that they “have not and will not succeed.”

The Russian president touched on anti-Russian policies, saying that, Russians are deprived of medical care in the West and considering that, such policies have “tore down all the masks of shame.”
