Putin: International law cannot be replaced by unilateral rules that some countries seek to impose on the world

Moscow (ST): Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that defending the sovereignty and independence of states is necessary to form a multipolar world, pointing out that international law cannot be replaced by unilateral rules approved by several countries seeking to impose them on the world.

Putin added in a speech today during the plenary session of the Russian-African Summit: Africa is still facing a large number of crises, especially with regard to security risks, pointing to his country’s readiness to help solve them and expand the number of Russian diplomatic missions and cultural centers in African countries.

Putin said, “We are ready to work side by side with friendly countries for the future and build a mutually beneficial strategic partnership, and we are establishing relations with every African country within the framework of a multipolar world,” expressing his country’s support for expanding Africa’s participation in the activities of the United Nations and its affiliated organizations.

With regard to the supply of grain to Africa, Putin said that his country increased grain supplies to African countries, reaching 10 million tons in the first half of this year compared to 11 million tons during the past year, despite all the illegal sanctions imposed on Russia.

Putin pointed out that the transition to national currencies in transactions with African countries will contribute to an increase in the volume of trade exchange between Russia and Africa.
