Putin demands to focus on fighting terrorism

Russian President Vladimir Putin gave instructions to the National Anti-Terrorism Committee to step up security measures across all of Russia and specifically in Volgograd Region. The President will receive daily reports from the NAC on the measures being taken along with regular situation reports.

Vladimir Putin has instructed the relevant ministries and agencies during preparations for Russia’s chairmanship in the Group of Eight (G8) to pay special attention to the strengthening of the non-proliferation regime, the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking.

The Kremlin official website reports that the President gave such orders to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Internal Affairs, RF Defence Ministry, the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Federal Drug Control Service (FSKN) for the implementation of the tasks that Putin set in his state-of-the-nation address to the Russian Federal Assembly (both houses of RF parliament).

The president also instructed the agencies to pay special attention to these issues during the preparation for the summits of the BRICS group (bringing together Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (CSO) in 2015.

Volgograd attacks are attempt to open internal front, spread chaos – Foreign Ministry

Cynically planned on the eve of New Year celebrations, this strike is another attempt by terrorists to open an internal front, spread panic and chaos, cause inter-religious hatred and conflict in Russian society, says Russian Foreign Ministry.

The terrorist attacks in Volgograd are an attempt to trigger inter-confessional strife in the Russian society. This came in a report of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“A strike that was that was cynically planned on the New Year’s eve is another terrorist to attempt to open an internal ‘front’, to cause panic and chaos, and to trigger inter-confessional strife and conflicts in the Russian society. We’ll continue our struggle with the shrewd enemy who knows no borders and can be stopped only by common efforts.”

Criminal attacks in Volgograd, as well as the attacks of terrorists in in the US, Syria, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and other countries, have much in common, and their inspirers have much in common too, the document stresses, according to Voice of Russia, TASS, RIA.
