Putin confirms to Abbas urgency of finding a settlement for Palestinian issue in accordance with values of international justice

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas the situation in the Middle East and developments related to the Palestinian cause, pointing to his country’s position on the need to find a settlement for this issue in accordance with the values of international justice.

“There is a lot that needs to be done to ensure the most effective development of bilateral economic relations, especially since there is a possibility for this,” Putin was quoted by Sputnik news agency as saying during his meeting with Abbas today on the sidelines of the conference on “Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia” held in Astana.

The Russian President indicated to the possibility of Palestinian students studying in Russia in various fields.

In turn, Abbas briefed his Russian counterpart on the latest developments in the Palestinian cause and the continuous violations of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and their Islamic and Christian lands, settlements, demolitions, killings, and sieges of cities, towns and camps, especially in Shuafat, Jenin, Nablus and Jerusalem, and targeting prisoners in occupation jails.
