MOSCOW- Head of the Russian Duma’s Committee of International Affairs Alexi Pushkov has warned against repeating the Iraqi scenario in Syria.
Pushkov believes US President Barack Obama should clearly state his position on the issue of Syria, according to the Voice of Russia.
“Obama was against the war in Iraq. He has to tell the world clearly if he wants Iraqi chaos and an ethnic war in Syria, but he is now silent” Pushkov said on Twitter on Saturday morning.
“Ethnic cleansing has gripped Iraq. It’s a direct result of US occupation,” Pushkov said.
Pushkov believes the same scenario is being prepared for Syria.
“We don’t hear anything else from Obama,” he said.
Russia strongly rejects foreign interference in the Syrian internal affairs and urges a political solution to the crisis. Moscow also reiterates its complete refusal to any possible US aggression on Syria.
