Pushkov: US policy on Syria, is the same 10 years ago on Iraq

MOSCOW , (ST) _Alexei Pushkov, chairmanof the Russian Duma ‘s foreign affairs committee stressed that the US, who  suffered  a serious political loss  after ten years of war  it waged against  Iraq, however,  continues to exercise  same political approach towards other countries in the Middle East, especially Syria.
During a meeting for the Russian State Duma Council, Pushkov  said: The war waged by the U.S. on Iraq was   an  attempt to prove its  uni-polarity  in the world, but this war refuted  the allegations of Americans in  claiming  unlimited  superiority in leading this  world.
He continued  that  Washington ‘s allegations over Iraq’s possession of a vast arsenal of weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear and bacteriological, chemical weapons were not proved,  stressing that the US, then,  deceived the whole world, but today we see that nothing has changed in its  policy and that  the Americans are still  exercising same policy in the Middle East especially toward Syria.
He pointed out to  what he considers a “clear  irony” that the Americans do not talk about who were killed  in the war on Iraq, as  experts estimate their number  between 150 thousand and 250 thousand Iraqis , whereas hundreds of thousands of Iraqis were  displaced.
The Russian official noted  the great responsibility shouldered by  Russia about what is happening in the Middle since the US has not yet concluded necessary results of the war it waged ten years ago on Iraq.
