PSL-2ndleg: Musfat Banias hold Shurta

DAMASCUS,(ST)-Shurta,the Damascus-based club, were held to a goalless draw with MusfatBanias in the 2014 Professional Soccer League 2nd leg round-2 Group B at Tishreen stadium in Damascus.

At Tishreen,Shurta relentlessly tried to compensate their first round’s loss to Omaya.ButMusfat coach depended on a solid defense and counterattacks .

During the course of the first half,Musafat were about to snatch the three precious points  but Kinan’s shot hit the post.

In the second half, Shurta dominated the midfield  but to no avail.

With this draw, Shurta lifted their tally to 16 points and remain at Group B top ahead of Wathba on goal difference while Musfat Banis still in place four with 15 points.

In another action, Tishreen continued their good performances winning their second win in a row over Nawaeer 1-0.

Omar Rihawi scored the winning goal in the 66th minute.

With this win, Tishreen lifted their tally to 13 points  while Nawaeer slipped to the sixth place with only 11 points.

Omaya snatched a precious point as they drew 1-1 with Majd at the Muhafaza stadium in Damascus.

Striker Mohammad Sahyouni broke the deadlock in the 77th minute .

Ten minutes later, Abdul Hadi Hariri notched up the equalizer with powerful shot just outside the penalty box.

Majd remained in third place with 15 points while Omaya are in 8th place with 10 points only.

It is to be noted that Wathba beat Hurria 1-0 in the second round.

The first half ended in a stalemate.

Early in the second half, Ali Sarim put his side in the lead with a close-range shot.
