PSL-2nd Round:Musfat upset Shurta

DAMASCUS,(ST)-Musfat Banias,the Blackhorse of last season, have defeated Shurta 3-1 in the 2014Professional Soccer League 1st Division 2nd group at Jableh stadium.

In the 13th minute, midfielder Kinan Deeb put his side ahead with a fierce drive just outside the penalty box.

Three minutes later,Kinan himself ,was about to increase the lead but he failed to convert from a penalty spot.

In the second half,Musfat,the home team, scored twice within five minutes span through Mohammad Shaaban(47) and Bassel Mustafa(49).

Few minutes into the final whistle,Shurta,the visiting team, managed to score their consolation goal.

With this win,Musfat lifted their tally to four points  in par with Majd and Nawaeer but ahead of them in goal difference.

In other Group B matches,Majd beat Omaya 1-0 at the Bassel Stadium in Lattakia.

Striker Mohammad Tiba scored the winning goal in the 30th minute only to give his side the three precious points they are looking for.

In Lattakia,Wathba drew with Hurria 2-2.

In Group A matches,Jaish scored a marvelous victory over Ittihad beating them 1-0 at the Tishreen stadium in Damascus.

One minute before the interval, Saad Ahmad scored hit home.

In the second half,Jaish showed prowess and superiority mounting attack after attack with the aim of increasing the lead but to no avail.

With this win,Jaish topped Group A with six points from two wins,while Ittihad have only one point.

Elsewhere,Karama drew with Taleea 1-1 at the Jalaa stadium in Damascus.
