Beirut, (ST) – Protest activities continued in Lebanon today with protesters closing some of the main roads to demaninga speedy formation of the government and meeting protesters’ demands.
The Lebanese National News Agency said that a number of protesters closed the international road of Dahr al-Baydar in front of cars with burning tires and closed roads in many areas of Bekaa in eastern Lebanon, Akkar, and Tripoli in the north.
The agency noted that, in return, all roads within Beirut and its environs are impassable, and the Tire Saida Beirut highway is two-way.
A number of protesters carried out a sit-in in the morning in front of the Electricity Authority building in Tire, chanting slogans demanding that the corrupt be held accountable.
Since October 17, Lebanon has been witnessing protest sit-ins demanding a fight against corruption, accountability for the corrupt and the improvement of the living situation.
The Lebanese President, General Michel Aoun, had assigned former Minister Diab to form the government after obtaining 69 votes in parliamentary consultations.
