Prospects of Industrial Cooperation with South Africa Discussed

Damascus, (ST) – Industry Minister Kamal Eddine Tomah discussed on Sunday with the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa Sean Banfeldt prospects for industrial cooperation between the two countries and exchange of experiences between the two sides.

The minister stressed the importance of benefiting from the experiences of companies in South Africa and the technologies available to re-boot industry and the establishment of joint projects regarding the development of the capabilities of national industry and to increase its contribution to the national economy.

Mr. Tomah pointed out that the Ministry of Industry sent a draft memorandum of understanding to the South African government including the fields of industrial cooperation between the two countries and projects needed by the national industry hoping approved for framing machinery for cooperation and start feasibility studies for these projects to be choose the most feasible projects.

The ambassador pointed out that his government is studying a draft memorandum of understanding and the embassy is intending to hold a symposium in Damascus to promote business for his country’s companies in March 30 in Syria, calling for the participation of the Ministry of Industry in this symposium to discuss the areas of industrial and cooperation projects can.

Mr. Tomah expressed his agreement on the participation of the Ministry of Industry in the seminar through the ministry’s industrial enterprises managers as well as representatives from the Federation of Chambers of Industry,  hoping that the symposiumto yield broad prospects for industrial cooperation between the two countries
