Damascus, (ST) – Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Adib Mayaleh on Thursday discussed with the Pakistani ambassador in Damascus Syed Athar Husein Bukhari ways to strengthen relations between the two countries especially the economic and commercial domains and investment of potentials available to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.
The Minister stressed the importance of cooperation with the Pakistani side in the reconstruction and development of the industrial sector, information technology, software industry and the energy sector as well as the potential for cooperation for the implementation of joint and investment projects.
He pointed to the importance of developing the legal framework governing the relations of cooperation between the two countries through the signing of agreements and necessary documents and re-activation of the Joint Ministerial Commission between the two countries, stressing that the ministry will encourage holding exhibitions to brief on all kinds of products so as to contribute to building a new foundation for future partnerships between the two countries.
For his part, the Ambassador said that his government is interested in achieving greater cooperation with Syria, stressing the importance of the participation of the Syrian side in international and specialized exhibitions held in Pakistan as “a real opportunity to build partnerships and business deals between the two sides.”
