HOMS, April.13, (ST)-The General Manager of Homs Sugar Company Yasser Ayyoub revealed on Wednesday that during the first quarter of this year, the company achieved profits of 400 million Syrian Pounds from its sales of yeast, alcohol and oil.
He added that the value of sales during the same period exceeded 4.4 billion pounds from its production of yeast, medical alcohol, refined cotton oil, soap and the rest of the by-products of cake, carbon and industrial alcohol.
The sugar factory is still suspended from work due to the lack of raw materials needed for production .The General Sugar Corporation will shortly purchase 25 thousand tons of raw sugar. The oil factory is also still suspended from work until the full quantities of cotton seeds are supplied from the General Organization for Cotton Ginning and Marketing for the season 2021-2022,” Ayyoub clarified.
He indicated that the yeast factory is operating at full production capacity to supply the governorates of Homs, Tartous, Lattakia and Hama with their need of soft yeast.
“The production during the mentioned period reached 1728 tons of soft yeast,” Ayyoub affirmed, indicating that the operation of alcohol factory is liked to the demand for the product and according to the need for medical alcohol.
“66 tons of white alcohol and more than 7 tons of blue alcohol in addition to 9 tons of carbon gas were produced , while 16 tons were produced in the soap section. The production depends on the operation of the oil plant and achieving economic feasibility.
