Pro-Russia demonstrations in Germany against violence and discrimination towards Russian speakers

Berlin (ST): Some German cities witnessed today pro-Russia demonstrations called by the country’s large Russian-speaking community to protest against discrimination and violence.

According to Agence France-Presse, about 800 people participated in a demonstration in the center of Frankfurt, raising Russian flags, in a move “against hate and abuse”, in reference to the discrimination and violence they are subjected to in Germany by simply speaking the Russian language or for their support of the Russian military operation in Ukraine and the lack of respect for their views.

The participants in the demonstration set out for the largest cemetery in the city to lay flowers at the fence in honor of Soviet soldiers who fell in World War II.

The demonstration was topped by a large banner that read, “Truth and diversity of opinions, not propaganda.”

The demonstrators indicated that they gathered for peace in the world, stressing that there are children who are beaten in German schools only because they speak Russian.
