Prisoners Affairs Commission: Occupation authorities are pursuing policy of slow killing against sick and injured prisoners

The Palestinian Prisoners and Released Affairs Commission confirmed that the Israeli occupation authorities are pursuing a policy of slow ‘killing’ against sick and injured prisoners, calling on the international institutions concerned to compel the occupation to provide the necessary treatment to the prisoners and to stop its violations against them.

Wafa Agency quoted the  commission as saying in a statement today that the occupation authorities neglect the health conditions of the prisoners and deprive them of receiving the necessary treatment for them, and in many cases, medical errors are committed against them that exacerbate the severity of their diseases.

The commission warned of the deteriorating health conditions of six prisoners, Iyad Omar and Shadi Gawadra, who are detained in Nafha prison.  The prisoner Amjad Obeidi,  is in Shata detention.  Maher Al-Qawasmi, Jawad Abu Qara and Samir Aboud, are detained in the “Negev” detention center.

For its part, the Palestinian Prisoners Club warned of a continuous and very dangerous increase in the number of prisoners with cancer and tumors, which recently reached 23 prisoners. It noted that the occupation authorities are adopting a new policy of killing the detainees through systematic tools that do not necessarily lead to direct killing, such as the policy of medical negligence “slow killing” that formed the main reason for the martyrdom of prisoners in occupation jails over the past few years.
