Prime Minister Underlined Medical Association Role in Drawing Health Policy

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halaqi stressed the importance of trade unions and peoples’ organizations active contacts with all components of society and their role as part of a participatory work system in the national policy-making so as to contribute to bettering performance and support various sectors.

During his meeting yesterday with chairman and members of the Syrian new Medical Association Council, the prime minister noted the role played the Association and its close cooperation with the Ministry of Health.

He also pointed out the role of the Medical Association in building bridges of cooperation with friendly countries through participating in Arab and international medical conferences to promote Syria’s presence at the international level and explain what is happening on the ground of a devastating terrorist war against it.

He stressed the government readiness to reactivate medical and pharmaceutical industry to provide best medical and humanitarian services, despite terrorists continued targeting of hospitals, health centers and medical staff.

The meeting dealt with the role of the Medical Association in supporting the health sector, its contribution to the country medical reconstruction process,upgrading the Union’s performance, rehabilitation of medical staff and the services provided in hospitals and means of providing pharmaceutical and medical supplies to health centers.

For his part, chairman of the Medical Association, Dr. Abdul Qadir Hassan praised government’s efforts in support of the health sector, stressing the union’s pursuit to make every effort to serve of health activities and promote Syria’s presence in international medical forums.

By the beginning of this February, the Syrian Medical Association elected its Board members for the next five years, during its 10th electoral conference.
