Prime Minister stresses the government’s keenness on improving the living condition of the working class

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Prime Minister Hussein Arnous has stressed the government’s keenness on improving the living condition of the working class, by taking all necessary measures to meet the just requirements of workers in accordance with the available capabilities and by sharing with the workers the making of economic decisions that would enhance the Syrian state’s steadfastness in its war on terrorism.

In a statement during a meeting of the Council of the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) on Monday, Arnous, who conveyed the greetings of President Bashar Al-Assad to all workers across the country, affirmed that the government will maintain all the economic facilities that achieve  economic feasibility and will consider a new investment mechanism for the factories that don’t achieve the hoped-for economic feasibility.

He said that 7.5 million liters of diesel oil are distributed daily to the production and service sectors, 7 million liters of which are still provided at the subsidized price for heating, agriculture and public transport. He added that the industrial cities are being supplied with electricity around the clock and intensive work continues to meet the requirements of boosting the industrial sector so that it regains its brightness and can overcome the negative impacts of the war.

The Prime Minister made it clear that Syria’s need for imported wheat amounts to 1.2 million tons, affirming that the country has enough wheat until the end of this year. He pointed out that work will continue to increase the wheat reserve in the near future in order to avoid any bread crisis.

Arnous referred to the contract signed to import 60 thousand tons of fertilizers to meet the needs of the agricultural sector and expand irrigation projects in all provinces as part of the government’s support for the agricultural sector.
