With the participation of Prime Minister Hussein Arnous, an expanded dialogue workshop on “Climate Change Challenges and Ways to Confront Them” in all sectors, especially the agriculture and water fields, began today in Reda Saeed Hall at Damascus University.
The Ministry of Water Resources in coordination with the Ministries of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Local Administration and Environment organized the workshop.
The Ministers of Water Resources Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Bassam Ibrahim, Agriculture Eng. Mohammad Hassan Qatna, Local Administration and Environment Eng. Lamia Shukor, and Head of the Planning and International Cooperation Commission Dr. Fadi Salti Al-Khalil, also participated in the workshop.
The participants discussed the impact of climate change on water resources and agricultural production, the most prominent measures taken and proposed to adapt and mitigate them, and to identify climate change indicators and their future readings.
