Prime Minister Khamis tours Damascus International fair

Prime Minister Imad  Khamis on Wednesday evening toured a number of national companies participating in Damascus International Fair within the Syrian pavilion.

Premier Khamis was briefed by their supervisors on the facilities provided to them, confirming that the government attaches great importance to supporting the local industry and ensuring its requirements with the aim of accelerating the process of production and fostering the national economy.

Khamis also visited a number of pavilions of foreign and Arab states participating in the fair including  Russia, Iran, China, Iraq, Venezuela, the Chamber of Commerce of the Sultanate of Oman, Belarus, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Pakistan, the UAE, Crimea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cuba and Macedonia.

He also toured the pavilion of the Ministry of Information and viewed the work at the media center in it, valuing the efforts exerted by the national mass media in coping with the victories achieved by the Syrian Arab Army, in addition to covering all the activities and events professionally.

At the end of his tour, Khamis confirmed to reporters that launching the 61st  Damascus International Fair with the participation of a large number of foreign and Arab countries and companies and occupying the largest area since the fair was launched sends a message from the Syrian people and army to the whole world that Syria is strong and it is recovering, pointing out that this message is the outcome of the sacrifices of the Syrian people and army in confronting the terrorist, economic and media war on Syria.

Khamis added that the government is working to prepare an economic vision to pave the way for reconstruction within a comprehensive development process which has been laid down by the Government during the years of war and it is currently being developed to turn Syria  into a real investment environment attracting all investors.

Regarding the US threats to impose sanctions on the companies participating in Damascus International Fair, Khamis noted that these threats aren’t new and they are incessant even prior the war on Syria, affirming that it doesn’t matter what they impose on Syria, the Syrian people will always have the will of life, production and construction.

The Premier welcomed the participation of Arab companies in the Fair, noting that Syria is open to all Arab people and countries that were allies with it in the war.

At the conclusion of his statement, Premier Khamis confirmed that Damascus International Fair represents one factor of the economic development process, hoping that the signed contracts would be doubled compared with the previous years.

For his part, Information Minister Imad Sara told journalists that about 125 media outlets are participating in covering the events of the fair, adding that the fair has a special importance this year as it coincides with the victories of the Syrian Arab Army recently achieved in Hama northern countryside and Idleb southern countryside.

The Minister noted that the fair hasn’t just an economic character but also a cultural, social, media and political character; proof of this is the futile US threats to the companies participating in the fair.

Minister Sara said that the Fair represents a significant platform in which businessmen from the participating states will meet their Syrian counterparts and will get acquainted with the latest economic and industrial developments and they will sign contracts and agreements.

Minister Sara affirmed that the fair sends a number of significant messages, the most important of which is that the Syrian citizens have remained steadfast and they won and started the reconstruction stage of their homeland.
