DAMASCUS,(ST)- Prime Minister Dr. Wael Halaqi stressed government’s keenness to achieve a true partnership with the private sector to draw economic and industrial policies that strengthen the capacity of the national economy so as to achieve industrial security.
This came in meeting presided by the premier yesterday to examine conditions of industrial cities, prospects for work development, address difficulties and obstacles in line with proposals made by the industrialists and ministries concerned.
To this end, the ministry of local administration made a presentation on the reality of industrial cities and the inflicted damage and the government efforts to regulate industrial area at environmental, investment, social and economic levels.
The prime minister explained that the government plans seeks to overcome obstacles hindering f the industrial sector and ensure the right climate for re-launching the process of development in industrial cities and areas by addressing the difficulties, providing production inputs and encourage industrialists to build new industrial projects, revive traditional industries and strengthen horizontal proliferation of industrial zones.
He pointed out that industrial sector reliability in the development of all sectors and the promotion of social stability and justice in all provinces, expressing satisfaction with efforts made by industrialists and investors to establish industrial projects in the industrial cities and the renovation of industrialist facilities and re-launching development cycle.
He explained that the ongoing war imposed on Syria targeted the industrial sector with all its components in order to stop development processes in the country, stressing that the will of the Syrians has been the strongest in confronting all challenges that impede continuous production.
He noted the great support given to industrial sector bestowed by President Bashar al-Assad in issuing several relevant legislations.
The participants in the meeting gave a detailed presentation on the real conditions in the industrial cities, difficulties faced by industrialists and proposals to activate the production process and provide a suitable work environment that can stand current circumstances.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Services, the ministers of interior, electricity, finance, industry, economy and foreign trade, water resources, transport and domestic trade and consumer protection, the governor of the central bank of Syria, governors of rural Damascus and Homs and other industrialists concerned.
Worthy mentioning that the establishment of industrial cities was a quantum leap, especially after the issuance of a legislative decree in 2004, which provided for the establishment of three industrial cities in Adra, Sheikh Najjar and Hesia, decree in 2007 for founding Deir ezz Zour industrial city in besides the establishment of 101 industrial zones all over the country.
