Prime Minister, Eng. Arnous calls for establishing companies for agricultural industries and marketing

Damascus, (ST) – Prime Minister, Hussein Arnous, discussed with Board of Directors of Chamber of Agriculture and Heads of the Chambers in provinces the establishing of companies for producing and marketing the agriculture products, in addition to establishing small manufacturing units in the countryside in the context of the positive intervention and delivering the agricultural products to citizens through the public markets with affordable prices.

Participants in the meeting agreed to intensify the efforts to develop the agricultural sector and overcome the obstacles facing it in coordination with the Agriculture, Industry and Economy Ministries and the Union of the Agriculture Chambers, as well as expanding the storing and refrigeration units for agricultural production.

The Prime Minister clarified that developing  agriculture is the basis for the food security and self-reliance to face the challenges, calling for unifying the efforts to bring back the strength to this sector and repair what has been damaged by terrorism as well as enhancing the role of the union and improving the sector production.

During a meeting with the Board of Directors of the Craftsmen Union and the heads of the Craftsmen Federations in the governorates, EngineerArnous asked to identify the damaged crafts in order to support them to resume production and reduce the import bill.

The claims of the craftsmen’s representatives focused on granting temporary licenses until they move to the handicraft industrial zones, supporting the leather industry, and increasing the number of craft incubators, while the Craftsmen Union was asked to provide an integrated vision for granting small loans to craftsmen.

The head of the General Union of Artisans Naji Al-Haddah stressed the importance of revitalizing and activating the role of craftsmen from industrialists to support the national economy and develop the production process and provide the public treasury with additional revenues, noting that the Union is ready to provide all services to craftsmen and meet their requirements in the 126 craft areas in all governorates. Al-Haddah added that the government support for these areas of services and infrastructure, has amounted to nearly 20 billion Syrian pounds.
