Prime Minister: Diversity in Syria over Centuries is the Source of its Power, Mystery of its Excellence

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Prime Minister Dr. Wael Halaqi stressed that diversity experienced by Syria over the ages is the source of its power and mystery of excellence, religious, cultural and intellectual richness, so as  to be an example for co-existence and brotherhood.

During a meeting today with Patriarchal Associate of Antioch and All the East for the Greek- Orthodox church Bishop Luke Khoury and Bishop of Sidnaya, Dr. Halaqi stressed that the Syrian society will remain intact, and an example of fraternity, love, and tolerance, despite attempts by the enemies of the homeland to penetrate the social fabric, pointing out that the heavenly messages came ” for the good of mankind ” and put “Foundations for coexistence ” among humans..

He noted the role of national scholars and clerics, Christians and Muslims, in enhancing ” intellectual and cultural security ” and “immunizing the society ” against the Wahhabi thinking,  the criminal enemy of humanity, pointing to the key role of the clergy in the promotion of the spirit of national reconciliation and renouncing violence.

For his part, Bishop El Khoury stressed that attempts by enemies of the homeland to destabilize trust among its citizens would fail, emphasizing ” we will stay in our country and defend it in the front row and will not give it up ” in order to rebuild new Syria that can accommodate everyone.
