Press Conference of Leader Al-Sharaa and the Qatari Prime Minister

Leader of the New Syrian Administration Ahmed Al-Sharaa and Head of the Syrian Intelligence Service Anas Khattab today received a high-level Qatari delegation led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. The visit of the Qatari official aims at confirming Qatar’s firm position in supporting the Syrian people. The Qatari delegation held talks with Leader Al-Sharaa on prospects of cooperation and coordination between the two countries. Following their talks, Leader Al-Sharaa and the Qatari Prime Minister held a press conference in which the Qatari official said “we are now at the beginning of a new stage in the history of Syria, and Qatar extends its hand to the Syrians for partnership”.

The Qatari Prime Minister stressed the need to continue providing public services to the Syrian people, Affirming that “the situation in Syria requires considering the lifting of sanctions imposed on the country as soon as possible”. He revealed that the Emir of Qatar will visit Syria in the near future. The Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister went on to say “the Israeli entity’s seizure of the buffer zone in Syria is condemned and it must withdraw immediately”. He stressed “we are in a new phase in Syria, a phase of construction and development and we will witness a lot of Qatari-Syrian projects”. For his part, Leader Al-Sharaa affirmed that Israel used the presence of Iranian militias in Syria as an excuse to advance in the buffer zone, but this excuse no longer applies after the liberation of Syria.
