Press Conference for Head of Civil Aviation Authority and ICAO Regional Director

A press conference was held today  by  Head of Civil Aviation Authority and Air Transport Ashad Al-Salibi and the Regional Director of the International Civil Aviation Organization “ICAO” in the Middle East Muhamed Abu Bakar Farah on the occasion of his historic visit to Damascus, the first since the establishment of the organization in 1944.

Farah stated that a memorandum of understanding was signed between the organization and Syrian Civil Aviation with the aim of laying the foundations for mutual cooperation.

For his part,  Al-Salibi said: “we agreed to enhance cooperation and confirmed our commitment to international standards.”

Al- Salibi revealed that Aleppo International Airport will be opened within next week, referring to a future plan to operate Lattakia Airport in a later stage.

Al-Salibi added that the discussions addressed the updating of the infrastructure and improving air navigation efficiency, noting the spirit of cooperation and mutual desire to open new horizons for work that serves everyone’s interest.
