Presidents Al-Assad, Putin discuss economic and trade cooperation, ways of confronting Coronavirus

President Bashar Al-Assad and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed in a phone conversation on Monday issues of common concern.

The two leaders discussed bilateral relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Russian Federation especially at the economic and trade levels. They also discussed cooperation in the face of the Corona pandemic and Russia’s plan to supply Syria with additional vaccines to help the Syrian people face this deadly disease.

President Al-Assad thanked Russia for the humanitarian aid it has provided to the Syrian people to help them overcome the impacts of the unjust blockade imposed on them.

The phone conversation also dealt with political issues like the work of the Syrian constitutional committee and the pressure being practiced on this committee to change its course.

President Al-Assad expressed Syria’s support for Russia in the confrontation of the escalation attempts by some western countries, especially concerning the situation in Ukraine, that target Russia’s role and policies.
