President Putin, in turn, stressed that Russia is determined to continue its steadfast support for Syria in its quest to defend its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and to ensure the country’s national security and stability. In his telegram, Putin stressed that the continued development of the Russian-Syrian relations is fully consistent with the interests of the peoples of the two countries and is in line with the approach of promoting peace and stability at the regional and international levels.

President Putin congratulated the Syrian leadership and people on this occasion, wishing well-being and prosperity for the Syrian people. He said that Moscow and Damascus had acquired during the past decades rich experience in bilateral cooperation in many different fields, and that, thanks to the joint efforts, notable successes had been achieved in combating the forces of international terrorism on Syrian territory.
