Presidential elections, luminous landmark in Syria’s modern history

Syrian people nation-wide will surprise the whole world today through rushing to the ballot centers to cast their votes in the presidential elections.  Syrian citizens are heading to the polls to choose the one who will take over the reins of their country’s future. The citizens will swarm polling stations to deliver e a message of unity and resolve to make the process a success amid an atmosphere of democracy and pluralism. They will choose the candidate who will be able to preserve Syria’s unity, sovereignty and independent decision. They will choose the candidate who can preserve Syria as a strong and pivotal country in the region capable of resisting the Zionist and colonialist plots which aim to perpetuate the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories and achieve political and economic interests of the colonialist states.

As was the case with the Syrian expatriates who flooded the Syrian embassies defying the restrictions put by some states, the Syrians inside will astonish the whole world with their commitment to their Homeland through the vast participation in the presidential elections.

June 3rd will be recorded as a luminous landmark and an important turning point in the modern history of Syria.  The presidential elections’ step in Syria was aimed at avoiding division of country or creating any vacuum in it. The elections in this historic stage are not merely a political right for citizens, but also they are a national duty par excellence and taking part in the elections is a declaration to the whole world that affirms the Syrian people’s independent decision and free democratic choice.

Holding elections under these hard conditions and following the victories achieved by the Army against the armed terrorist groups is the most telling evidence of Syria’s adherence to its sovereignty and dignity. The presidential elections are the decision of the Syrians who are going to elect the one who can restore security and stability to all Syria and preserve the unwavering national and pan-Arab principles of Syrians.

Voting is a modest contribution to the achievements made by the Syrian Arab Army and a gesture of loyalty to the homeland given by its honest citizens. The elections day will consolidate the concepts of democracy and legitimacy and will prove to the whole world that the Syrians are the only side to determine the future of their country rejecting any interference in their internal affairs.

Every Syrian should take part in the presidential vote as the participation would reflect belief in the homeland, its unity and the independence of its political decision. The elections will mark a democratic achievement in defiance of the plots of Syria’s enemies and their takfiri agents.

Voting shows support for the reform process, adherence to the national unity, rejection of the foreign interference and abandoning the terrorist acts which aim at destabilizing Syria and creating a sectarian war that destroys Syria and the whole region.

The Syrians’ wide participation in the elections will show the world the volume of autocracy of the countries which are bragging about democracy and human rights. These countries are violating the diplomatic norms and the simplest human rights when they prevented the Syrians from taking part in the elections process at the Syrian embassies.

The presidential elections bear the news of the end of crisis in Syria and show the unity of the Syrians. But the US, its Western allies and the regional and Arab tools are still supporting terrorism and working to prolong the crisis. The elections are carried out according to the constitution and law. The war on Syria seeks to dismantle the Syrian state and destroy its capabilities and its Arab, regional, and international role.

The terrorists may try to disrupt the elections, but Syrians’ strong will indicates that everyone will vote to send a message of love to his Homeland, rejecting terrorism and the conspiracy against Syria.
