Presidential elections in Syria a new victory for the Syrian people: Iranian diplomat

Iran’s Ambassador to Cuba Sayyed Mohammad Hadi Sabhani has congratulated the Syrian people on making the presidential elections in Syria a success, hailing the landslide victory of President Basahr Al-Assad in these elections.

During his meeting with Syria’s Ambassador to Cuba Idris Mayya at the Syrian Embassy in Havana, Sabhani reaffirmed his country’s firm support for Syria in all domains, noting the deep-rooted relations between the peoples of the two countries.

On his part, Mayya said that events and developments during the past years have proved the solidity and warmth of the Syrian-Iranian ties.

He pointed out that the wide participation of the Syrians inside the country and abroad in presidential elections has dealt a heavy blow to the countries that sought undermining this electoral process.

Cuban journalist Maria Victoria Valdeze said in an article published recently by a Cuban newspaper that holding the Syrian presidential elections and the great turnout of voters have confirmed the Syrian people’s ability to withstand difficulties and emerge stronger from the crisis.

She stressed that the reelection of President Al-Assad is a message to the world confirming the Syrian people’s support for and confidence in their president.

Meantime in Lebanon, the Jaafari Mufti, Sheikh Abbas Zughaib, said during his meeting with Syrian’s Ambassador to Lebanon at the Syrian Embassy in Beirut that Syria has been the symbol of strength, resistance and solidity in the face of enemies’ schemes.

He added that the Syrian people have specified their firm national option on the basis of which Syria will restore its key role in the region as the guarantor of its stability and security.
