Presidential decision on forming the National Security Council

Based on the authorities given to the President of the Syrian Arab Republic and starting from the higher national interest and keenness on consolidating national security and in response to the security and political challenges in the coming stage, the President of the Republic decides forming a National Security Council led by President of the Republic.

The Council aims at coordinating and managing the political and security policies.

The National Security Council will include the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Interior as well as the Head of the General Intelligence Service.

According to the decision, the National Security Council meetings are held periodically or at the invitation of the President of the Republic.

The Council makes the decisions relating to national security and challenges facing the state in consultation with members of the council.

The tasks and work mechanism of the council will be determined under the directives of the President of the Republic in a way that serves the higher national interest and ensures effective coordination between different agencies and institutions.
