On May 16th, the three candidates for the presidential elections that will be held on May 26th inside Syria, launched their electoral campaigns, after the Supreme Constitutional Court’s decision to finally announce the list of candidates for the position.
The three candidates are Abdullah SalloumAbdullah, Bashar Hafez Al-Assad and Mahmoud Ahmed Mari.
Candidate Abdullah Salloum Abdullah’s campaign came under the slogan (Our strength is our unity), while candidate Bashar Hafez al-Assad launched his election campaign with the slogan (Hope to work), while candidate Mahmoud Ahmad Mari chose the slogan (Together) for his election campaign.
In the streets of Syrian cities, billboards, websites and social media pages, pictures of candidates with the slogans of their election campaigns spread, amid remarkable interaction by Syrians at home and abroad.
The Supreme Constitutional Court had set Saturday the fifteenth of May as the date for receiving notices of acceptance of candidacy for the candidates whose candidacy applications have been accepted.
The Court also set the date for the start of the electoral campaign for candidates from the date of the 16th to the 24th of this month, provided that Tuesday, the 25th of May, will be a day of electoral silence.
