Presidential Candidate Hassan al-Nouri Congratulates President Al-Assad on Winning Elections

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Presidential Candidate Dr. Hassan al-Nouri has congratulated President Bashar Al-Assad on winning the presidential elections and the trust of the Syrian people.

In a press conference on Wednesday at the Sheraton Hotel in Damascus, Dr. al-Nouri, who hailed the elections as a national victory for all the Syrians, described President Al-Assad as “the great statesman who will lead Syria in its most critical circumstances.”

“The electoral process was honest and transparent and I personally supervised the vote counting, he said, adding that “no one can doubt the honesty of these real democratic elections in which more than 11 million Syrians took part.

Dr. al-Nouri asserted that the Syrian people have managed to defeat the most heinous conspiracy targeting their history, pointing out that thanks to the Syrian Arab Army’s achievements, the Syrian people have got the opportunity to elect a president who managed to lead the army and the people to defeat terrorism and foil the conspiracy.

Al-Nouri, who thanked all voters, said the results were honorable to the all the Syrians.

On the French decision to prevent Syrians abroad from voting, Al-Nouri said Francois Hollande has harmed France not Syria, stressing that Hollande will regret his behavior as he contributed to insulting human rights and the concept of democracy.
